Dear Photo Diary | Celebrating Perfect Days

If we want to discover the full potential in our humanity, we need to celebrate those heartbreaking strengths and those glorious disabilities we all have. It is our humanity and all the potential within it that makes us beautiful.

My Happy Birthday Tree

This year, like the year I was born, my birthday happened in conjunction with the Easter celebrations. As I walked through town I pretended that all the feathers and flowers were put up just for me. That the sun shone just for me. And it felt perfect, all of it.

Words and Birthday celebrations

There is lots to celebrate right now. Small things. Big things. Daily Mindfulness. I’m one year older. The world is in bloom. The twigs are full of pink feathers. My family is awesome. Owls exists. I’m making mail art. And I have been cutting out words for postcard swap postcards, and it’s super fun. I also glue words on everything right now, to make new sentences and word poetry! Love it!

What are you celebrating?

  1. I am celebrating Spring finally to have come to my neck of the woods. The trees are starting to bloom, and today was the first rain of the season. I love your pages, your photographs just jump off the page, and engage you in the story.

  2. I would like a better look at that fun outfit you are wearing! Happy birthday, by the way! Mine is on April 6, and I remember how excited and proud I felt when it fell on Easter once when I was a young girl. Your town looks so very festive for the holiday!

  3. Okay, these photos are great, but I particularly LOVE that photo of your snipped words, all gathered in a little clear cup! Did you see my photo on IG this week, where I had gathered all my little snippings? It is so fun, isn’t it? gathering words and moving them together to make little word families and then decorate them. Too good.

Sorry I missed your exact birthday, but I am sending you a BIG BIRTHDAY HUG. I have always admired your ability to keep sharing and open, when you are a self-confessed introvert like myself. It’s such a challenge, and I find inspiration in your ability to keep doing it.

  4. Happy, and blessed birthday to you! May this year be one of wonders and blessings and plentiful art!
