Awesome Supplies | Artists’ Watercolour

Making art and craft is always awesome, but that is not always true for the tools, supplies or materials you get. And boring supplies are not as fun to work with, right? Some are just plain crap, and should be tossed at once… though they often linger in drawers and boxes instead of being trashed (or even better, given a new home at a local flea market). But when you do find awesome supplies, I think that is something to share and celebrate. Hence the post about pink dymo tape, and today, a post about a few new green watercolours I bought – with artist quality! Artist quality is more expensive, but has more pigment and therefore is richer to paint with. Yum!
I bought Green olive, Oxide of Chromium, Sap green & Payne’s gray and decided to make a test/evidence page while opening up the tiny coloring boxes. I went to my square spiral bound journal and started adding fields of color from each box.
Oxide of Chromium is a dark green, like the deep forest where mossy stones live in the shadow.
Sweet sap green! So lush and beautiful, full of summer and singing birds hiding everywhere.
Finished page where I’ve added some collage elements and each colours label. But hmm… to make it into a finished evidence page I need notes, right?

Watercolours is a must have when you journal, and if you haven’t tried it yet I encourage you to do so.

I love love love watercolors! I think they are a must have too! What kind of pen did you use to write over them with??? Gorgeous shades of GREEN!
Hey there! The pen that I used for writing on (the dried) watercolurs is just my normal writing/taking notes pen, it’s a Pilot (V ball grip 05). Love how smooth it is to write with those!
I adore watercolours. They have always been my favourite medium. Yet at the moment I seem to be mostly using watersoluble crayons, which are fun too. Love the idea of an evidence page!

Wow Hanna- that page is gorgeous! One of the many things on my ‘to-do’ list this year is use more green! I never use green in my art but I’ve come to realize that green is a pretty amazing colour- especially watercolour greens (as you have demonstrated well in this post). I love reading about your creative adventures ^_^

I love your work! I found your site by chance while browsing through art journal pages… We moved to Sweden this past Summer (temporarily for a few years – then back to the U.S.) I still haven’t found a place where I could just walk in and buy art supplies here. Do you have a recommendation? (we live 45′ S of Stockholm) Or do you order online mostly?

I once wrote a Stockholm guide and even though it’s rather outdated I still recommend Panduro and Kreativa, the two big craft and art shops in Stockholm, within walking distance from the Central Station! I hope you like them!
The Chromium is the exact color I think spring smells like – when I say it smells green, that is the shade of green I have in mind. You do such lovely work! I’m kind of jealous that I’m not an artist;)
