Under a pink moon
I’ve finished an artist trading card called Under a pink moon.
Last year I wove two ATC backgrounds for embroidery, one is orange green the other one purple. The fabrics I used is hand dyed by Kristin Shields. I love all the colours I got from her.
I call this ATC Under a pink moon because as you can see, the moon is pretty in pink. It looks like this:
When I started to make collage art I created a lot of ATC. The Artist Trading Card was my standard size. I still love this small size of 6×9 cm (2.5 x 3.5 inches). It is a very handy size, plus trading is a lot of fun. I traded almost all of the paper ATC I created and got little pieces of art back in the snail mail inbox. It is more difficult to trade fabric art. Even a small embroidery takes a while to make, and I get attached to it very quickly.
I’ve given “Under a pink moon” to my friend Elisabet, because that was my plan while embroidering it.
ATC size cloth, but nothing on it yet.

Beautiful work! The ATC size is one of my favorites, too. It’s not too overwhelming for some experimentation. I am so going to try this!
Here’s a question: Did you attach your woven piece to a base fabric before doing your embroidery?

Robin, about your question. I did pin the woven fabric strips to a background and then I hand stitched all over like you can see on the green piece. After it was all secured I did the embroidery. When that was finished I glued everything down on a atc-sized cardstock piece of paper. :-) Hope that helps?
