Finding yourself in your Art Journal

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.

On my desk an art journal by @ihanna

When you work in book format, like an Art Journal, or any notebook, each page is a creation on its own. You can tear it out and frame it if you want to, but the point of it is not to display it. The point of it all, is the act of making something.

The act of making something is healing and transformational, but also selfish and lonely. I love all these aspects of creating art.

Sometimes it is a lot about moving on from one thing you created, to the next thing you will create, in an endless string of creative actions. Creative actions that define a creative life. Sometimes it is about finding enjoyment in what you just created, being content with it existing where before there were nothing…

The Edge of this Art Journal by @ihanna

Sometimes it is about finding flow, or silence, or about finding yourself on the pages of your Art Journal. Finding yourself is maybe the goal of life… At least it seams so, at times.

My Art Journaling

I’m looking through a few of my posts on Art Journaling from the past 1-2 years, and love all of them. I’m going to post more from my art journal this spring, because there are a lot of thing happening in it still. If you feel like looking at old but inspirational stuff I’ve made too, here are a few fun ones:

What do you find when you commit to your creativity?

  1. Love this post, Hanna! You are such an inspiration to myself and to many others as well. Thank you! : )

  2. When I am more creative, it fuels more creativity. It is also a check for me to know when or if I am ‘slipping’ into a bit of depression.

  3. I love art journals, they are little works of art. I’ve never started an art journal, because I spend the most of my freetime playing with dolls. I know it may seem strange, but there is a world of adults that play and collects dolls. There are dolls for every taste and every budget, so I love to create items, expecially dresses, for my dolls. But I’ve also played a lot with pencils, paint and paper in the past. Now I have a good purpose for this spring, I want to start journaling with my dolls. Your blog is so inspiring that simply I can’t resist, I have to try. So thank you!! 😃
