Postcard Tutorial Video: Fall Color Inspiration
I’m not sure if I should call this a postcard tutorial or simply a postcard collage inspiration thing, but here it is! A new youtube video about how to make your own DIY Postcards. I think it’s more of a tutorial than any other video I’ve made so far.
When you watched you can be the judge of what this video should be called… Me, I just filmed it, edited it, added music and for the first time: did a voice over instead of talking while filming it. Both are fun and presents their own set of challenges, but I think voice over is the way to go in the future. I had fun making this!
Voice over (adding the talk to the video after it’s cut together) makes editing easier and it also easier to make the video itself shorter by cutting it up into many smaller clips. I’m really hoping it will be inspiring and interesting, and give you some hints on what you can create yoruself if you’re new to cut and paste collage…
I will post a part 2 very soon, also about cut and paste but inspired by brighter and bolder colors. The collage I make in this video is inspired by fall colors: vintage and withered, black and beige… Have a look, and let me know below what you think.

It’s always hard to create while filming, but I think my DIY patchwork Postcard Collage turned out pretty okay in the end. Also, I re-designed the header of my YouTube channel and I’m feeling pretty stoked about it and making videos right now. I hope you want to subscribe, and give the video a thumbs up – that helps me get more viewers. My previous video was the book review of a collage activity book, so it’s rather fitting that this one is me doing a collage, right?

hi hanna, i would say this is a fun little postcard tutorial! i like how you had the scissors dancing/moving around on the table at the beginning :) i found it to be very inspiring, i enjoyed watching you fussy cut the faucet image. the finished postcard is darling-and so is your voice!! i give this 2 thumbs up and 5 stars. very, very good. i like voice over videos, because they seem to not go on and on and on while the person is looking for something they want to show in their video. lol. being able to edit the video is a good thing, i think. i look forward to part 2 ;) thank you for sharing your gifts, and your inspiration <3
Haha, making your scissors dance is one of my magic tricks. It’s not easy to do, but once you get your flow going it can happen… :-)
I havenever done collage on my post cards but I am inspired to try. Question….Do you put anything over the top od the finished card or do you find the glue stick is sufficient?
I don’t do anything on top of the collage, because with the method I use I feel confident that the papers will stick. What I do is I put glue everywhere on the backside of each paper, as you can see in the video, and kind of soak it in with the glue stick before adhering it, especially important to really glue all edges down so that the papers won’t tear away. That’s my other magic trick, but it also depends on what kind of glue stick you have. Get a good one!
