A Swipe File of Inspiration

No matter what the ideas or conduct of others, there is a unique rightness and beauty to life which can be shared in openness, in wind and sunlight, with a fellow human being who believes in the same basic principles.

Hello July!

I haven’t made a inspiration mosaic since March, so this one contains inspiration collected in April, May and June through my rather few visits to Flickr. The new design still irritates me, so I prefer to visit and collect inspiration at Pinterest these days. I love how I find new blogs and great content as I click through from Pinterest when I have the time too.

And I so adore the pinterest app on my phone, and often when I am too tired to do anything else, I’ll visit and pin for fun. But of course I still collect images of-line, from magazines and such. It is my therapy. Today as I listened to podcasts I took out a Moleskine where I have doodled on just a couple of random pages, and decided to make it into my next inspiration book, my swipe file for arts, crafts and patterns.

I posted this to Instagram as the first page was finished:

Images from this spread is from an old Marie-Clair Idées that I swiped clean last week.

What is your favorite way to keep a “swipe file” of inspiration? And do you have any advice on how to actually use that inspiration in your own work? Sometimes I feel like all I do is to look at other peoples great ideas…

  1. I use Pinterest as inspiration. It’s my addiction. I’m also interested to know how others actually use their pins. :-)

  2. I don’t like flickr’s new design either. I rarely visit for inspiration. I mostly use pinterest. I need to find some old magazines to rip up too. Love everything in your swipe file :)
