Creativity in Snapshots | Stitches

Innovation is a messy, multiple business. There is no single method. The sensible approach is to keep trying stuff—to provoke the world and let it start talking to you.

Pink orchid, photo by Hanna Andersson aka iHanna
Love this flower!

I have bought a pink orchid after a few years living without such magnificent flowers in my home. It’s so pretty and constantly requests that I admire it and take photos of it. I’m really enjoying blogging in series, the Creativity in Snapshots being my favorite right now. Therefor a new post today with snapshots of iHanna Creativity and creative life!

Floss like candy
Embroidery floss bought in Gothenburg. And…

Bag o' fun
…ombré silk that looks like candy. Also some cotton and wool bought in Gothenburg, from the local shop Canvas there.

I’m a sucker for anything ombré, because you get fun shading and don’t have to change floss colour as often. Ombré is when something has colors or tones that shade into each other – used especially of fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark.

Embroidery inspiration and lunch
Lunch and a nice new magazine. Sometimes the best (and only) way to get rest from computer work.

Stiching it down
Taking very small stitches
Also trying to stitch some, for real. Not just write, read, look at and think about it. But there hasn’t been much time, just a few stitches here and there. Might become something, some day… Or not. Either way, stitching is calming and good for the soul. I wish I did it more often.

Reading: Culturematic
On the train I’ve been reading McCracken’s book Culturematic, a book about small innovative ideas that change the world. Interesting concept and book, but maybe trying to include too much into its scope. Though I found it fun to learn about Fantasy Football and other very American ideas (that are not as well known in Sweden).

Previous post in this series was Creativity in Snapshots #5. I hope you enjoyed these snapshots of the prettiness in my life (though I also share the mess).

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. Love the orchid!! I really want to pursue growing some plants indoor. Any good book suggestions? And floss…embroidery floss…my first love! I do miss it’s calming effect on me! And lastly magazines! I ADORE my magazines…something about flipping thru them and reading at my leasure!!

  2. Very beautiful photos with amazing colurs!
Embrodery is fun but also time consuming, big stitches might be the key.
    Good Luck!

  3. Love your pics! The orchids are gorgeous! What was your lunch? I’m always looking for new ideas for lunch!

  4. Love the orchid (and the shot)! And the embroidery floss looks very yummy. Makes me want to go cross-stitch something. Ha en trevlig helg!

  5. Sexy flower! :D I have a thing for threads, too! They always make me be creative but I always end up procrastinating just because I can’t think of anything to sew. Hahaha
