A Mission Statement for your life

When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it.

Writing is magic

Inspired by Alex Shalman and his article The Socratic Method To Great Living (5 Simple Steps) I’ve written down what I consider to be the essence of me. Here they are:

1. I’m special and unique

2. I’m an inspiration to others

3. I live to document and share what I see

4. I am a creative force that will not be silenced

5. I find happiness, peace and love as I walk my own path

Mine are not about the perfect me but what I need to remember on a day to day basis. There is amazing power in making a list like this, as it helps defining yourself and your world. It makes me think I’m this amazing gal that can do anything. You should try it! Write your own mission statement for life! Who are you and what is “your way” of seeing life?

I find great journaling prompts in most articles I read these days, and I take notes obsessively whenever I find interesting information or factoids about anything. I want to question it and examine it from my viewpoint. Ideas for writing are jumping at me all the time, but I don’t find the piece within to start. I hope to force it back, and this week I am writing Morning Pages every day after breakfast.

Alex also writes that it’s important to know your limitations. I’m making that list too, but not officially on the web but as a journaling exercise. I know my limitations but I tend to “forget” them, and I think I need have them in front of me to work with them, not against them.

One of the words to photograph for the Diptych Project was “calling”. It could be me using the phone, but instead I started to think about what my calling in life is… Isn’t that a nice journaling prompt to think about? What is your calling?

I’m thinking mine is yet to figure out, but it will be something that includes
1) writing
2) creativity
3) inspiring others with art, photography, words; much like I do with this blog I guess…

Here is the spread where I wrote the answer down;

Then go read The Socratic Method To Great Living published at zenhabits.net and I also recommend tips on how to write your personal commandments that Gretchen Rubin talks about if you haven’t already read that.
