Hello my friends! It has been a long time since I did an Art Journal Peek, don’t you think? Sharing what’s in side my super secret journal is one of my most favorite things about having this blog… So today I’m sharing a whole spread and the creative process that lead me to that finished spread… It started with a little set of unmounted rubber stamps that I wanted to try out…

Tangled Pen Bird Stamp Set

Birds are a reoccurring theme in my art journals, as it is in many others art. But stamps I don’t use too often…

I took out my watercolors and did a background and the usual “spritzing” of color drops from the brush, to make a spotty pattern. Love those dots that you can’t really control. They go everywhere.

Then coloring the birds. Because coloring in is for grown ups (too).

Super fun to see the same bird in different colors, don’t you think?

Birds - same but different

Also included with the birds: twigs!

The right side of this spread is a brown paper envelope that I recycled (along with the pretty flowery paper bags) into book pages when binding the diamond book, the other side is plain watercolor paper. Yum!

Water color doodles is my new thing! I have been experimenting with this idea for a while now. I wonder where it will go.

Here is what my finished spread looks like now, lettering, journaling and all:

Wanna make something great (or simply a bit better): Put a bird on it! Am I right? And to make it even more awesome: put a few birds on it!

By the way, my friend Jana of Tangled Pen has made the design of the bird stamps, and she kindly gifted these to me. Aren’t they adorable? You can get the whole set called “a little birdie told me” from the manufacturer, and you should also check out Jana’s Etsy Shop, especially if you’re into digital design. Her watercolor elements are beautiful. This post is sponsored by love.

Happy First of June!
