Quilting book from 1978, by Elsie Svennås
I got this great book from my mother about applique, patchwork and quilting by Elsie Svennås. It’s a second hand book from 1978 and it has some inspiring colour and b/w photos.
There’s lots of orange and brown of course (hello 1970!), but I like it a lot. The techniques are old but still applicable and useful, and I want to learn and try them all.
I thought I’d share some of the spreads here, for your inspiration, since I always enjoy when Hillary of Wee Wonderfuls shares her finds when it comes to quilt/craft and children’s books (like this book Pictures in Patchwork and these covers of some vintage children’s books).
Quilting by Elise Svennås
Here are some pages from Elise Svennås’ Quilting book:
Yummy and inspiring in its own way, right?
And of course Elsie Svennås has a quilted apron in her book as well. Right now every blog about crafts has got to have at least one post about aprons, now when everyone has gone into the apron craze. The vintage inspiration trend is strong online these days. I have yet to sew one for myself, but I like seeing what others are sewing.
What vintage craft books do you like to go back to?

Neat book! My favorite page is the second one down with the rhino (?) and elephant (?) next to the piglet. Is there a pattern for these two? If so, I’d love to do a swap for a copy of it!
This is terrific! Thanks so much for sharing inside your book. LOVE 70s crafts and the fabric prints of that era. I think I like that quilted leaf the best.
