Art Journal Peek: A Love-fest Without End

An Art Journal is like a wonderful Pride Parade for all people under the rainbow, all creatives that are willing to have an open mind towards personal creativity. It is like a virtual Love-fest Without End.

I have been keeping some kind of Art Journal for over 10 years now, and I hope I never stop. I hope my family won’t let me stop, even when I’m old and forgetful and rather just stare at the TV screen…

I hope someone will serve me a jar of water with my watercolors, turn on some good tunes and ask me what color I’m feeling like using on that day…

And then doodle along with me, in mutual understanding of what’s important in life.

Art Journal Love

Art Journaling can be made in any kind of notebook, sketchpad, altered text book or even a photo album. If you don’t know what kind of paper you like, it doesn’t really matter where you start.

I have journaled on the thinnest of papers, like the Tomoe River Paper from Japan. It is like phone book paper, for those that remember that vintage idea.

I have also journaled on thick, lush watercolour paper, like the papers I have in this Art Journal that I bound myself. It’s what I prefer most I think. But I also love working with acrylics and collage, in altered books, covering up what was there before with new colors, patterns and ideas.

Right now I’m about to finish this handbound journal with an embroidered cover, and after I have filled all the pages I will film a flip through of what’s inside it. Lots of watercolor doodles, like these hearts and other more abstract work.

Art Journal Love Fest

The journaling love-fest is about love for me, and here are a couple of things I think you can manifest / express things about inside your journal:

  • self-love
  • patterns
  • colours
  • quotes
  • words and thoughts
  • poetry
  • personal photos and reference material
  • collected imagery
  • family and friends, people you admire from afar, places and home
  • art materials

…and many more of course. What do you manifest most in your art journal?

Wishing you a wonderful week with lots of time to doodle, splatter paint and explore what you like and where you are – on a page in your journal.

xoxo

  1. So excited for you that you’ve almost finished this book! I’m glad you’ve continued to make the time to create art, your happiness builder! I know we can all become so busy that it seems like we just don’t have time for creating, but as you’ve mentioned throughout the last many years, crating is so important for us!

I look forward to the flip through when it’s complete! And looking forward to your Randomousity class (no pressure on timing, just wanted to let you know it’s something I’m still looking forward to!). Thanks for continuing to bring the joy of creating into our lives!

  2. Loving all the pretty hearts! So excited you’re almost done filling this super cute book! So glad you’ve made the time to create! Can’t wait to see your flip through once this is “officially” finished! Thanks for the inspiration to make time to sit down and create.
