Writing a Novel in one month

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved. [whatisnano]

I’m going to do it!
I’m registered at the site NaNoWriMo; National Novel Writing Month. I’ve read the rules. I have been thinking a lot about writing lately. Writing scenes in my head. Thinking about reality and fiction and what to “do” with it in a plot.
I’ve been to the start up meting in Stockholm. Through the years I’ve read countless books about writing.
I’m dreaming about writing a great novel in one month but can’t imagine I will actually show up and write every day?! But I will try and I will do my best. I’m going to be kind about what I write, how I write it but not if I write. I want to write a text. It will be in Swedish, but that’s about all I know about my text.
I’ve written texts since I was a kid but never any big projects except for this blog and my own diary. And the blog turned out a book, maybe some scenes written during November also will – after a while? I’ve written a lot about me in my diary and on the blog but no short stories in a couple of years now. Nothing fictionous at all lately.
But in two days I’m about to start! Yay for big strange geeky projects?!

I’m looking forward to this very much and I’m not going to worry about “winning” (writing 50.000 words in a month) but to write a lot and try to sit down and do it every day. Rule 1 in writing is: sit your butt down (!). I can’t imagine a stack of paper on my desk at the end of the month filled with prose, but I feel happy thinking about it and imaging it! And it’s the road that is important right, not the result? I’m also looking forward to getting the daily pep talks from famous and cool authors like Tom Robbins and Neil Gaiman and Deanna too!
This sounds like a good challenge. I think a writing process needs limits and goals and this one has both of them. I hope you’ll have happy moments writing and hopefully we’ll get to read your text at the end(a good change to brush up my Swedish).

First: what a great blog you have here. Very inspiring (I started artjournaling about a week ago). And second: thanks for these great tips for nanawrimo: I’m too facing the challenge to ‘cough up’ a novel next month and will need all the support I can get, I suppose.
