The beginning is today | Collage week 51 2025
Today is the first day of the rest of your life, I hope you are doing something you enjoy and are planning for a creative and yummy year ahead!
I used to try to set goals, make plans and create a new calendar for myself in a January first frenzy, but this time I admit it: I have no idea what’s ahead. I don’t even know what I want to do, or even blog about today, so I’ll just go ahead and share the seven collages of week 51 2025 with you guys today. I hope you like them.
I also hope that the path forward will clear up soon, and then I might be back with infinite wisdom to share with you all. If not, we’ll just have to survive without my words of wisdom again this year, as per usual.
I read today about how January is all about nature resting and animals sleeping in hibernation, so it might not be the best time to forge your future anyway. It’s been snowing all day, and I’ve been sitting on the couch sipping coffee and journaling.
Renewal comes naturally in spring, so maybe that’s when we should get our thinking hats out and dust of our bucket lists and dreams of changing ourselves? If you’re not ready yet either, that’s okay.
Consider this your get out of planning the upcoming 12 months-card.

I’ll never understand why everybody puts so much emphasis on January first. There are 364 other days in the year that you can make a change.
– Elizabeth Eulberg

New Year’s resolutions have always been something to beat myself up with by the second week of January. It seems perverse to set yourself up for failure right at the start of the year.
– Romesh Ranganathan

A New Year’s resolution is something that makes you anxious until February when you can forget about it.
– Dave Barry

Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better person.
– Benjamin Franklin

Somewhere along the way, I realized that the new year doesn’t begin for me in January.
– Betsy Cañas Garmon

The beginning is always today.
– Mary Wollstonecraft

Thank you so much for clicking over, taking a look and leaving me a comment below telling me which of these collages you like best if any – and why you like or not like it. Take care.

About this project: I made one collage for each day of 2025 and shared seven at a time each week on this blog. Thank you for helping me finish by cheering me on. I appreciate you being here.

I’ve not set any goals or intentions for the new year either. I’m hopeful for a creative year ahead and that’s enough. I’m so impressed by your dedication to daily collage making. These are all lovely!
These are all great collages, Hanna. It was hard to choose a favorite. But I think it’s a tie between 351 and 355. For me, it always seems to come down to color. It’s the first thing that grabs my attention. Second is the composition. Once again, I love all the quotes about resolutions and starting over. I stopped making resolutions long ago. I never followed through and it became depressing. I like the quote that says there are 364 other days one can make a change. So true!! I can actually follow through with that. Thank you once again for the inspiration.
I really love all of these, the women you used have captured my imagination. Thank you for sharing your work, even when I don’t comment, I am always reading your posts and feeling inspired by your art
Thanks for these. And yes. Although this is the first year that I’ve seen multiple people (including you) post about how the beginning of the year isn’t necessarily in January. I always appreciate you and your art.
I think it’s very easy to buy into the hype that the only time to start something is 1st January. Especially after a big project like your collages, January can be ideal as a time to rest and reflect, and starts can come later. Well done on making it through a year of collage!
These faces are amazing, love them!
Give yourself grace in the new year, you tackled a HUGE project in 2025, take some time off if you can.
We will be here when you are ready to blog again. :-)
