Say it with collage | 365 collages week 41
If you are scrolling past you might miss it. The subtle hints, the hidden gems. If you are rushing to get to “the end” you won’t hear a thing of what is said, at least that is what I think.

I think you can say a lot with collage, but it will only reach those open enough to listen, those that have learned to stand in silence in front of a painting or artwork and ponder it for a while. Those that stop walking and take it in. It is for those of us that enjoy the little things in life, that see the beauty in garbage assembled or in crumbled up papers. It is for those of us that enjoy listening to the birds, that wants to understand what’s beneath the surface, that does not get scared away by complicated or hard.
Collage can teach us a lot too. To slow down, to appreciate unexpected juxtapositions, to let our eyes wander over the art piece in silence and just breath. To appreciate paper scraps! To embrace the chaos of the material, and the calmness of a finished piece. To really look. To not contradict, but to try to understand.
Also, if we can stay away from judging any of it as “good” or “bad”, that is a win too.

Anyone who says you can’t see a thought simply doesn’t know art.
— Wynetka Ann Reynolds

What art offers is space – a certain breathing room for the spirit.
— John Updike

I hope you are well, not scrolling more than you create and that you’re taking care of yourself. We need you thriving for next year as well. Also, how is your creativity showing up for you this month? I do hope you are giving it slivers of time (if not more) this busy month as well. You might need it even more when you feel like you have no time for it, you know.
Thank you so much for clicking over, taking a look and leaving me a comment below telling me which of these collages you like best – and why you like it. Take care.
Please also check out week 41 in 2013 (the invisible series) and
week 41 in 2018 (halloween colors) if you have the time and want to see more of my art.
About this project: I am making one collage for each day of the year in 2025 and blogging seven at a time each week. Thanks for helping me finish this by cheering me on. I appreciate that a lot.

LOVELY post – and your words/thoughts are absolutely SO true, especially during this busy time of year. Take care and THANK YOU for all you do to inspire us.
Thanks you! I am equally inspired by your quilts and productivity.
What a lovely post about the mind of the artist, along with your beautiful collages. Thank you for sharing it, I’m glad it popped up in my email today.
You’re subscribed to my blog posts, J?! Thanks, that makes me so happy.
This was so nice to read today, iHanna. You are so right that it’s important to slow down and let the art speak. As always, your titles are so perfect for each piece.
Thanks Michelle. I don’t think the internet is the easiest place to slow down at and to enjoy art in, but I appreciate anyone that tries to do it. :)
