Scrap Die Cut collages | Collage week 37
All good art is political! There is none that isn’t. And the ones that try hard not to be political are political by saying, ‘We love the status quo.’ We’ve just dirtied the word ‘politics,’ made it sound like it’s unpatriotic or something.
— Toni Morrison
With these seven new art pieces I’ve created some fun Scrap Die Cut collages. If you don’t know what that is, please check out blog post and video about Victorian Scrap-die-cuts (bokmärken in Swedish and glanzbilder in German) to learn more and to see some of my big thrifted stash.

In any case, I pulled a few of them out to use in these collages and I’m pleased with the result, and even more so when I consider the titles I gave them… LOL. Not sweet and lovey-dove but LIFE, folks, life as it is.

Thank you so much for clicking over, taking a look and leaving me a comment below telling me which of these collages you like best – and why you like it. Take care.

About this project: I am making one collage for each day of the year in 2025 and blogging seven at a time each week here. I have created 365 artworks in a year thrice before so I am hopeful that I can do it again. I’d love to know which of these you like best – and why you like it. Thanks for helping me finish this by cheering me on. I appreciate you being here.

I love these. I am curious about your painted paper in the background. Is it paper you created or did you paint it after it was part of the collage?
Thanks Jacque, I appreciate that. And yes, they are painted papers created previously and in a few different ways. I love cutting them up and using them as backgrounds for my collages. If I were to also paint on top of my collage layer I’d probably call it a mixed media piece rather than a collage piece, if you know what I mean. :-)
