Oh baby, baby | Collage week 38
Continuing on using a few Victorian scrap die cut images in my collage artwork – this time showing super cute illustrations of babies. I think all of these are so very sweet and I hope you do too.

I actually love that some of these have been taped into an album (by someone else) at one time, and that you can see the yellowing tape residue on them. I think it ads depth and interest. Aging babies, from a time lost. A time of innocence and play, perhaps.

Each title is my way of adding story or even further depth to these generic pieces, hoping it will stop you for a few seconds to think about what it could mean – or maybe come up with your own meaning.

This wee one even got a bit transparent after I removed the icky tape from her, and I love that. Is the baby years fading away already? Who can tell.

The text behind this last collage is perticularly choosen because I love this lullaby:

The Swedish version of this song exists in a few different versions, but the melody I’m sure you know when you hear it. It’s Johannes Brahms – Wiegenlied Op. 49 No. 4 – Lullaby. The perfect soundtrack for these collages, right?
Thank you so much for clicking over, taking a look and leaving me a comment below telling me which of these collages you like best – and why you like it. Take care.
By the way, this is my last call: You can still sign up for the DIY Postcard Swap today and tomorrow, but then I will close the autumn swap and send out addresses to all the participants in the middle of next week.
Please also check out week 38 in 2013 and week 38 in 2018 (Not for Reading) if you have the time and want to see more of my art.
About this project: I am making one collage for each day of the year in 2025 and blogging seven at a time each week here. I have created 365 artworks in a year thrice before so I am hopeful that I can do it again. I’d love to know which of these you like best – and why you like it. Thanks for helping me finish this by cheering me on. I appreciate you being here.

These collages are so sweet! I love the vintage art style and how the tape adds dimension. Your titles are so perfect for each piece. How can I possibly pick a favorite? I can’t do it. Nope. I just can’t! I love them all!
I love these sweet collages. It’s hard to pick a favorite but if I have to choose one, it would be “Like a fish in the water.” I’m fascinated with the tiny vintage pool, and like the frog as well as the papers you chose for the collage. Everything fits together so well.
