Glue Book with me: Citrus Cat Lady
It’s a good idea, when you feel overwhelmed or even a bit stressed by your own ideas, to sit down and fill a spread in a notebook. Writing down a list of all the things you want to do and get done, sure that can be great, but even more, not doing anything about the ideas except forgetting about them for a while.
Nothing better relaxes me than opening my glue book or art journal and filling a page with colors. Have you tried this method? One hundred procent recommend!

For some reason I like grabbing a handful of random magazine clipping and dump them out on my table before I start any composition in my current square glue book. It helps me narrow down my choices a bit, and let’s me concentrate on the page rather than digging through a box of magazine images for ever and ever. But then I go to town with my images. Some of the the images speak to each other from the beginning, but once I’m done I like to stop and really look at it. Sometimes something jumps out, and I notice surprising connections and related items that I didn’t notice before, things that look planned but wasn’t. The images starts really talking to each other, and often they tell a little story even when I did not intend to tell one.
Here’s my video of the process of this session:
Another thing I do when I’m stressed is to simply sit and cut out images from magazines, and I guess that’s been my therapy for way too long. I really do need more sessions like this one now, where I start using my magazine images.
This black, big box of collage images is just one of many that I’ve filled these past 2-3 years, buying more (second-hand and already used) magazines and cleaning out piles I already had accumulated by harvesting all the images from them. And I like saving a lot of the images, and even though they’re flat and takes up almost no room at all they’ve accumulated too.

Anyway, thanks for watching the video and/or looking at the photos.

Here’s the finished spread of my “Citrus Cat Lady”. Notice the framed print on the wall above her bed? Yes, it’s an illustration of birds, because she looooves [to snack on] birds:

Your glue book page is so fun! I love the colours, and the pun of the “cat lady”!
Omg! I didn’t even think about it like that. I bet she’s childless too! 😅
