Collectings from the Past | Collage week 36

I was still creating collages last month, so these are from then. I am still creating collages in my mind right now, and I will get back to them IRL soon, maybe this week already.
This is week 36 of the 52 weeks this year, collage number 246 to 252 in my project 365 collage in 2025.
I am thinking about doing less of a 7-artwork-on-a-theme thing this last quarter, but we’ll see how it goes. Sometimes I want to make them all different and dig deep into my stash, other times I really want to make a cohesive collection to show in each blog post…

I stopped scanning my little masterpieces and are now simply photographing them top down, cropping and saving them from my phone. I resize and add the watermark on the computer though, because it’s all been set up in Photoshop with “actions”. Plus I do need to sort them into different folders to know which has been titled, showcased on the blog and are “done”, haha.

I got a question about the size of my collages from Robin on a previous blog post and thought I’d answer it here as well. The foundation for all previous years have been the exact same size all through each of the year, but not this time. Well, they’re all approximately the same size each week and each weekly series are cut to the same size with about 3-5 cm difference between the series. But between one week’s seven collages and the next there are slight size differences although all of the collages are square.

These seven collages are 14×14 cm (which is about 5,5 inches), but a few previous weeks have had collages sized 14.7×14.7 cm. The biggest ones so far are 16.5×16.5 cm (for example the collages where I was utilizing some Kindergarten papers). I feel that’s small enough to work in the same way I’ve always worked, which is a comfort, but I also like that I’ve let the size of the canvas vary slightly over the year. I wanted to go a lot bigger, but I have been hesitating about that. It really alters how you perceive them, how you work on top of them and how well you can see the little details in the bigger whole I think. What’s your opinion on size when it comes to art?

Thank you so much for clicking over, taking a look and leaving me a comment below telling me which of these collages you like best – and why you like it. Take care and stay creative.
Please also check out week 36 in 2013 (vintage edition) and week 36 in 2018 (the Birds are Back in Town) if you have the time and want to see more of my art.
About this project: I am making one collage for each day of the year in 2025 and blogging seven at a time each week here. I have created 365 artworks in a year thrice before so I am hopeful that I can do it again. I’d love to know which of these you like best – and why you like it. Thanks for helping me finish this by cheering me on. I appreciate you being here.

I love The Strangest Escape best for this week. Interesting to hear your answer to the size question. The question I’ve always had is what do you do with them all?
I love the bird ones and the vellum one but all are very fun and colorful.
Thank you for sharing about the size of your pieces. Personally I am intimidated by working with a large canvas,
so I always prefer making “tiny art”.
So cute! I think my favourite is “Migratory Inclined”
