Be the bigger bird | Collage week 33
August invited me to finally find my way to the balcony and enjoy my little outdoor place. I read quite a bit but also brought out my pile of collage materials and worked out there, on the tiny glass table. You can only do collage work when there is absolutely no chance of wind, because otherwise your trash as well as your lovely scrap bits will fly all over the place in a second. But this time, sitting outside creating art was a breeze. ;-)

And you know what? We’re in week 34 of 2025 and in this blog post I am sharing seven freshly made collage artworks from this summer, as I continue creating in my series “365 collages in 2025”. That means with just another post (week 34), I’m caught up and should (if I keep up with creating seven collages each week and also the scanning or photographing and naming, numbering and blogging weekly, as well) be able to from next week only share one collage blog post a week! Yay!
Thank you to those of you who kept reading, commenting and staying subscribed to the blog through this crazy period of posting only about this one, big project of mine. 365 is a lot of collages as you know, and once you fall a few weeks behind it’s a lot to catch up on. I’m grateful that you are still here, reading and looking. Thank you.
I hope to keep inspiring you to tackle your own big, creative projects (or small ones). To photograph, document, paint and dream up new ideas to take notes about in your idea book.
Without further ado, here are my collages of week 33, 2025:

Five of these seven collages have a strip of pea green polka dot paper as the starting point, go back to see if you can spot it. It is that paper that is the starting point but also the common ground for the series within a series. This is a great idea if you want to try to create cohesive collages in a series, explained more here: Starting from the same point. I hope to remember to go back to this concept later on.
Thank you so much for clicking over, taking a look and leaving me a comment below telling me which of these collages you like best – and why you like it. I really love reading your reasonings. Take care.
Please also check out week 33 2013 and week 33 2018 (Cut things away as you go).
About this project: I am making one collage for each day of the year in 2025 and blogging seven at a time each week here. I have created 365 artworks in a year thrice before so I am hopeful that I can do it again. I’d love to know which of these you like best – and why you like it. Thanks for helping me finish this by cheering me on. I appreciate you being here.

I like the idea of using the same paper as a starting point for this mini-series and quite impressed that you were able to collage on the patio without paper everywhere! Sometimes I use the same ‘process” for a mini-series like starting from the center or working only with vertical strips. Great set, and great progress catching up. I have been doing mine as “fractional” and need to go back and figure out where I am with the count for the year.
Thanks Tammy. I’ve got the numbering, these blog posts, and a word document with all of the titles to keep me on track but yes, it’s a lot to process. I’d love to know where you are in your fractions for sure, I’m sure you are well ahead of me.
