Postal Update & Link Love
All address lists have been sent out to participants in the DIY Postcard Swap that I host (#ihannaspostcardswap), and over 2000 DIY Postcards will soon be out in the world. Isn’t that amazing?
If you signed up for the swap but can’t find your list, first check your email spam folder, then let me know via email that you need me to re-send the list and I’ll get to that as soon as possible, because of course I want your experience to be a good one in this swap. If you do not receive a reply from me it’s because your email server ate my email and not because of me. Contact me via another email, and please don’t poor your frustrations over me. Tech is not as straight forward as one might have been lead to believe, and I am doing my best to reach everyone.
If you are in the swap, your postcards should to be ready to send this week if not sooner. Thanks.

In other news, Julie blogged about the swap and her postcards, and that made me happy:

Julie showed a few of her 20 postal stamp DIY Postcards on her blog and later reported that her Postcards were moving forward and in that post shared how she is planning to store her postcards! It is gloriously postal and pretty, please check it out and leave her a comment about it.
Beth of Camp Nelson shared all her 10 postcards and writes:
This spring, I have been inspired by the nature and wildlife I have encountered in my role as a nature-based preschool teacher […]. It has been an amazing experience to spend so much time outside and learn alongside the children about nature. This series of postcards I created features a “field note” of something I have seen, observed, noticed, or found during my time at work. Each field note is different, but each postcard has similar elements.

The quote is from Beth’s post Spring 2025 Postcard Swap where you can see a close up of all her super sweet postcards. She writes about seeing birds, a frog and even a turtle, which is very exotic to me.
My blog friend Michelle is creating 100 postcards as a 100 day project, and that is also glorious and very cool. Big projects makes us give more time and energy to our creativity which is all good. Good for your health, good for your soul, good for the postal systems of the world.

The Postman’s Knock, a calligraphy blog by Lindsey Bugbee, has a timely post called How to Make and Send Your Own Artistic Postcards in which she writes:
A postcard is the analog version of a text message — but with heart. It tells someone, I thought of you —and I took the time to show it. More than a message, it becomes a piece of art, worthy of a spot on the fridge, the desk, or the wall. And while your recipient gets a beautiful surprise, you benefit from a moment of peaceful creativity — a small but powerful act of self-care.
If you did not sign up for the DIY Postcard Swap you should still create a few handmade postcards if you get the chance. Send them to friends or family, or to your elected officials. Make some noise, spread some love and art, be as creative as you possibly can!
If you want to be notified when the next swap is up, which will be in the fall, sign up for my newsletter. I am just writing about some free events and creative adventure that is available to you right now, so don’t miss out. I am letting all my subscribers know my best kept secrets today. I hope that this posts finds you healthy, happy and creative. I hope that the Canada postal strike will not interrupt our flow of postcards into and out of there too much, and that the postal workers get what they are asking for. I hope you are taking care of yourself as best you can. See you soon. xo

Wow – thanks for sharing links to my blog posts and the others (love the quotes, too). This has been fun – looking forward to the cards winging their way to me!
How sweet of you to include me in your links, iHanna! I mailed my cards and will be blogging about it later this week. Now I’ll go check the other links in this post. The postcard swap is such a wonderful thing, and I sure appreciate you for hosting it!
I need to double check an address in Austria. There is no city listed.

This is such a lovely post and 2000 postcards being on its way is so amazing.
It is the second time I had to pass. I was really considering it but I am a little under the weather lately and have too many priorities. One of these days I’ll jump in.
I hope everyone participating is getting some wonderful art pieces.
