Ready, set – grow! Collage Week 4 of 2025

My seemingly overwhelmingly, too big for words, task continues. I hope to create 365 collages in 2025 : this is the batch of seven new collages made for week 4.

I have been clearing out all my dad’s garden books, and “grabbed a few of them” for collage, haha, so be prepared for a flower avalanche in the coming collage weeks (maybe the entire year). But that’s okay, flowers and me go way back and I think most people can appreciate their beauty.

The washed out baby pink is really neon pink, but of course my scanner does not agree with that color. Maybe I should try to photograph these instead, but to get going with the catch-up you’ll have to imagine how awesomely bright these are! Or, if you don’t love neon pink as much as I do: be glad that your eyes get a calmer version than the artist intended today. LOL.

Snow and ice outdoors right now, but in my heart it’s spring…? Or rather: it is a new season of collage, a fresh collage start, the spring for cut and paste in iHanna’s life. Yay!

Feeling like my collage fingers are thawing from the icicles they’ve been encapsulated in lately… but then when I look at some of these collages I can tell I’m not ready to celebrate just yet. Not ready at all…

But maybe I’m getting there. Doing more collage work means my collage muscles are getting a workout at least.

25. Getting there

I feel like I am really shooting high with this project, trying to challenge myself with the sheer number of collages that I need to create this year.

I love giving my artwork funny or meaningful titles, but to avoid the headache of being clever all the time (I just can’t) I think I will try to name the flower collages for what they depict, at least some of the time. Here the main image is a photo from a vintage garden book, featuring Little Lamb’ also known as Panicle Hydrangea (which in latin is called “Hydrangea paniculata” – and who doesn’t love a good latin name?) or at least I hope it is. In any case, I named it so:

I didn’t realize how similar number 22 and number 27 were, but I don’t really mind that as long as they’re not copies. They’re in the same family anyway, using a photo cut in half – so if you can tell they’re relative collages maybe that’s a good thing.

That is the seven collages uploaded.

I used several of my newly painted neon pink papers this week.

About this project: I am making one collage for each day of the year in 2025 and blogging seven at a time each week here. I have made that many artworks in a year thrice before so I am hopeful that I can do it again. Please also check out week 4 of 2013 and week 4 of 2018 (where I was already asking the poignant question: Will I be able to catch up?)- and leave me a comment if you find a new favorites along the way. I’d love to know which of these you like best – and why you like it. Thanks for helping me finish this by cheering me on. I appreciate you being here.

  1. We all love flowers, don’t we?! Great idea to keep some of your dad’s garden books for collages. Your collages are very pretty, bright and cheerful. Love the colors. Do you use the collages for something specific?

    • Thanks for visiting my blog Astrid, I hope you come back soon. I appreciate your kind words about my collages.

  2. These collages are so uplifting and full of spring energy! I love seeing them all together in the last photo. I love the one called Shooting High. The orange polka dots and the stamp are so striking.

  3. I love all that pink! And the actual photo of all seven at the end really is my favorite. I’d encourage you to photograph them more!

    • Thank you Kelly. I have a few process photos of when I have been creating that I was hoping to blog soonish but ran out of time for this week. It’s just so dark in the evenings here still.

  4. My fave is # 25 Getting there. I especially love the left side lace border with dots and flowers – nice overlay!

    • Thank you Robin. Don’t tell anyone heh, but the lace is actually already on the wrapping paper that is the dots and flower paper. But I agree, it’s so pretty that I did save it for my collages. :-)

  5. Love your collages, they’re so bright & flowers are a fave of mine. I just started 100 days of collage & I came to your blog for inspiration. Thanks for inspiring me.

  6. Bring on the flowers. I love seeing them.

I wonder… how big are the collages? They don’t seem too big.

Also how do you store them all? Do you keep all originals or will you get rid of those once scanned? How much space do you have?
