Adorable kittens | Collages from 2022 [2]

I think I have recovered from the marathon of blogging every day for an entire month… I still have plenty of ideas on things that I want to write about. I could continue with blogging every day for at least 1-3 months without stopping to create anything new (craft, art or photo wise) but that would not be healthy for me or a great way to spend my days. Probably too much for anyone reading this blog as well, especially during busy December. So I am slowing down, breathing and doing some creating in between as well this week. I am reading, crocheting and painting in my art journal.

Today I am sharing another batch of collages made in 2022, back when I had the ambition to create 365 collages in a year, again, but didn’t. I am now re-framing the fail as success because I can. And I am really enjoying scanning, and sharing these. I mean, I made all these collages so why not share them on the blog…

A week’s worth of collages. Let me know in the comments which one is your personal favorite, and why.

I love giving my artwork titles. Sometimes they have a deeper meaning, sometimes not. The titles gives another dimension to these works, for me. For example the above title “Sugar Brain” comes from the fact that the print of colorful bubbles was found on a candy bag from the supermarket that I saved and used as my art material – but also the dotted lottery tickets underneath the translucent paper bag.

The title of the blog post though, comes from the kitten collage series (below), which are these four collages where I used images of clay figures depicting cats. I think they’re from the 1950s and I find them simply adorable.

They’d look great framed together on the wall:

I always thought that an artist’s was the hardest life of all. Its rigor—not always apparent to an outside observer—is that an artist has to navigate forward into the unknown guided only by an internal sense of direction, keep up a set of standards which are imposed entirely from within, meanwhile maintaining faith that the task he has set himself to is worth struggling constantly to achieve. This is all contrary to the notion of bohemian disorder.

  1. My favorite is “Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder”. I’m in the mood for roses.

  2. I love all of these collages! How can I choose a favorite? I love kitties, so I really love those collages. I enjoy your titles, too. I have such a hard time coming up with titles for my art. Your titles are part of the artwork, adding another dimension. I’m glad you decided to post some of your older art!

    • Thanks Michelle. They didn’t feel “finished” until now when I have shared them on the blog, haha. Conditioned much, right?

  3. I really loved the first one with the roses, I absolutely adore flowers and love to take photos of them, my floral portraits I call them. And I hope you continue sharing but yes, still find time to do more crafting for yourself.

    • Thanks Alexandra, I will share a few more posts in December then rest up for next year. Hope you take some time too for your creativity.

  4. I love the “Sugar Brain” the name, the colors, the explanation.
Or maybe because I used candy wrapper today for my art journaling.
I decided to try a daily art journal challenge this year inspired by all the things you shared. We’ll see how far I can take it.
