Link Love for the Weekend: one thousand things
Now that as a society we have collectively experienced the dark sides of ‘influencer culture’, we are perhaps ready to see traditional written blogs in a different way: as very much optimal for sharing independent writing and imagery, without the authors themselves becoming consumable.”

My blog is about art, crafts and creativity in everyday life. It’s about what I create and make for the most part. But I have also always linked to other creators: to highlight the community, friends, other bloggers and thinks that I like, personally. I highlight specific things when it comes to podcasts, videos, articles, books and ideas, in the hopes that you will find new things too to be inspired by.
Over the years I have started many new “series” of blog posts on the theme of online inspiration, most recently three things that’s simply inspiring me right now, but Link Love for the Weekend will be in another format, for now. Lots of links, because I felt like oversharing.
Creativity & inspiration
- A beautiful studio space – my ideal studio space would need more storage for all my different materials and stuff, but other than that, I love how bright and airy this home studio is with access to the garden and lots of lovely plants inside. Seeing this makes me want to redecorate my everything. [via Anne Butera, My Giant Strawberry]
- The Inked Experiments Project by Tammy of DaisyYellow – I want to remember this little experiment with creating a tiny booklet of watercolor paper by Tammy, so I can do it with leftovers from my latest bookbinding effort.
- Also, Tammy was late but has joined the 30 day challenge of blogging every day in November, NaBloPoMo, so please check her out and enjoy her rainbowy blog.
- Vintage Christmas kitten digipapers – cute patterns to print or use in digital scrapbooking or in your December Daily or art journals [via FPPTFY, Free Pretty Things for you]
We are tiny bugs but also part of this infinite cosmos. Let’s become goo together, then let’s go and see it all and wonder at it all like we did when we were tiny. Everything is waiting for us.

Textile art & craft
- A peek into Mimi the doll maker’s studio – I’m delighted that Mimi the doll maker has started blogging a bit again, sharing her beautiful creations in wool and this look into her busy studio space.
- All I Wanted Was a Quilted Jacket – where the writer is “addicted to EPP. It may sound like a new synthetic street drug. And in fairness, its seductive powers are similar.” LOL.
- Threadstack Directory – yes, linking to another link list, but I thought this one could be useful to everyone interested in textile art & craft. It’s a list of Substack writers that are also weaving, knitting, sewing and creating with textiles so if you’re looking for someone in your niche to follow, this is the place to look!
- Improvisational stitching and other suggestions for your weekend [via Ann Wood handmade]
Reading & writing
- On book therapy: an old idea finds new life [via The Guardian] :
In recent years, a growing body of research has backed up what we know intuitively: that books not only entertain and educate, but can also help us to recover and grow. They offer companionship to the lonely, insight to the anxious, and release to those who feel trapped.
- Creating a life that’s worth putting your phone down for [via Sarah Raad, Gather & Grow]
- Censoring Kids’ Worlds: Laurie Hertzel on the Danger of Banning Books for Children [via the Literary Hub]
Important but hard
- Broken Bones: America’s Violent Indifference toward Women [via Kate Manne, More to hate]
- It’s not the economy. It’s the misogyny. [via Amanda Montei, Mad Women] – also about the US election
This week’s NaBloPoMo finds
- Holding Gentleness via Catherine Cheng
- The Shape of The World – A List for Coping via Tobia, Craftalicious me blog
- Lens Artists Challenge – Silence – how would you illustrate silence in a photo? Interesting idea and beautiful photos [via Tina, A little bit of this and that blog]

Okay, now I understand. I always think : I will share a few links, that will be a quick blog post… But it is no! Not at all. Not quick to copy links, titles, remember why and mention who and… Now I get why I’ve tried to do Weekly Inspiration or Link Love Lists grouped by theme so many times, and done big link lists with inspiration en masse posts but fallen by the wayside rather quickly. It is not quick, my friends, not at all. But my hope is that you find something to enjoy here. Some solace, some creative energy, some inspiration, a new blog to follow perhaps. Some link love for the weekend.
Which of these links will you check out first?
PS: you can still sign up for the DIY Postcard Swap that I host this entire weekend. Check it out. And if you haven’t heard the expression “link love”, let me explain: Why you should show some Link Love.
This post is part of NaBloPoMo where I write 30 blog posts in November. Thanks for reading and leaving me a comment, it encourages me to keep going. To follow along subscribe to blog posts via email or RSS. I also have a sweet Substack Newsletter about art, craft and creativity that you might want to sign up for so that we can keep in touch in the future. I’d love that. On instagram I’m @ihannas and on YouTube Studio iHanna. Take care and stay creative friends.

What an interesting set of links to explore (what I call falling down the rabbit hole). Thanks you for putting these together! And for those participating in the 30 day posting challenge, it appears that Blogger/Google is sending all comments to my emails with no reply-blogger status, even for people I have blogged with for years. Without an existing email in my contacts, sadly I cannot reply to the many new visitors. I wonder if others are experiencing this issue?
Yes, it’s definitely the rabbit hole of link love and researching interesting things on the internet! I’m not sure what you mean is wrong with your comments, but I hope you get it sorted. I reply on my blog so that everyone can see the reply and make sure to send it to the person I’m replying to as well. :-)
That studio space is lovely. So bright and airy and green. It would not be a space for me but it feels like I would want to sit there and work every once in a while.
I have to read that book post in the guardian but need to run right now.
Thank you for linking my post – very happy it spoke to you. I loved Tinas post very much too.
Maybe this post is a bit much if you’re also doing the blog challenge. You can bookmark and come back another time if you feel like exploring the links more. They’re all worth it according to me. Hah.
I am so glad you enjoyed my photos and thank you for linking back to my post. I too love the bright studio space, I love light and space, but I’m a messy crafter and that neatness and space would not last long around me. I found your other links to be interesting and enjoyed looking into all of them. You could totally get lost and spend tons of time reading through them all and exploring further. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Tina, I will try to join that photo challenge sometime too I think. I enjoyed your entry a lot and would love to share my own photography more often.
Hanna, I’m sorry I’ve been missing so many of your NaBloPoMo posts. I love a link list, and I’ll check some of these out. Thank you!
No worries, I’m just happy you came by. Hope you enjoy some of what I’ve linked up with. :-)
Hanna, thank you so much for linking to my Holding Gentleness post! 😱🥰 Hope you’re having a fun and connecting month of daily posting! Best wishes to you! 🙏🏼
Cathy Cheng
Thank you Catherine, I am! Hope you’re feeling the same. :-)
Thanks, a good list. I agree putting together al inks post is not quick
Thanks Melissa. Is anything with blogging quick and easy? I’m wondering… after 20 years of doing it and half a month in a totally new and faster, crazier way… LOL.
In the flurry of writing & commenting around the blog-o-sphere, I missed this great post!!! Perhaps I shall restart my link love too? Thank you for the kind words, Hanna! Sending love right back to you!
I love a good link list, thanks so much for sharing!
