Goodbye Dear Summer
It is time to say good bye (and thank you) to summer. The season of summer that gives us so much, may we never take you for granted but be grateful for you, always.
Thank you for lingering all the way into September, giving me that last push of warmth and sunshine so I can survive yet another dark, cold winter. Thanks for letting me take walks, just last week, wearing not even a cardigan over my bare arms and still feeling warm enough inside out. Thanks for always coming back, not matter how dark the world seams. Thanks for your comfort, your plentiful gifts and your encouragement to snap photos when ever I am out and about.
Thanks and bye for now, sweet, sweet summer. I love you.
If you are feeling sad that summer is over, please remember that if you keep going, it will too. The trees will just go to sleep and have a rest during the winter months. Everything needs rest. Then they will be back with new leaves/growth quicker than you think.
Please remember that life, just as the seasons, are cyclical. If you’re sad now it too will pass and better days will come along. Just wait and see. The ups and downs of life can feel impossible at times, but we’ve gotta keep at it. Keep finding the light, following what makes us happy, doing the tasks at hand. I hope you agree.
Finding the little moments in time that are memorable is one way to honor that light that exists beyond ourselves. So, again:
Dear summer,
Thank you!
One of the moments I want to bottle up and remember when winter arrives, was when I visited a family neighbor’s garden. We were temporarily custodian of this garden, and allowed in. I went in alone and documented the moment, for upcoming cold and dark days.
Among the lush greenery I found treassures everywhere:
Goodbye dear summer, thanks for your abundance. See you next year.
PS: I hope you have many memories like that, or at least the one, that you can hold close.
