Playful Index Card Collages by iHanna | June 1-15
Like I mentioned a in the beginning of last month in June and July there is an art challenge going on that is called ICAD – Index-Card-a-Day. It’s low key and fun, and I’m making collages with stickers, cute images, washi tape, words, labels and this and that found in a little box of treassures on my table…
A lot of people are filling an index card with some kind of artsy idea for ICAD, hosted by my friend Tammy of Daisy Yellow, and you can join too. Just start any time in July and try it out. This challenge is joined by thousands of people all over the world. We’ve got free prompts to follow (weekly and daily if you want and need them), a (paid) Facebook group and the hashtag #dyICAD2018 on instagram which all makes it easy to connect and be inspired by what others are doing.
I’ve shared a few of my cards on instagram and my own facebook page Studio iHanna in June, but today I thought I’d share the first 15 so that you can see them together. They make me happy, so I’m hoping it’s contagious…
This challenge started in 2011 and I have been using index cards as a fun, relaxed way to create ever since then. Sometimes I make a few collages in the beginning of summer, but a couple of years I’ve joined full-on and made 61 finished index cards!
This year it’s been like that, and I’m inspired to create more colorful, cute and fun little vignette collages like this in July too.
I’m using my date stamp on the front, and the back, on most of these index card collages. Here’s collage no 3:
Index Card Collage Process
I filmed the process of making card no 1 (watch it here) and then also card no 3 (watch it below), but since then I haven’t taken the time to set up the camera. I should do more of these I think, in July, right?
I also have a whole index card playlist if you want to keep watching, but first, take a look at the rest of my index cards:
Adorable otter.
I love cute frogs.
June 6 is Sweden’s National Day, hence the flag.
Some things to do for you and all of us…
Livet är fullt av överraskningar is Swedish (duh!) and means Life is full of suprises.
Frogs, coffee – and owls 4ever.
I painted on pink index cards last year, but this year I’m mixing it up with both pink and white ones, because I can. And I’ve got some left in both piles still. I love this new freedom of choosing a background color this year.
A rainy day, indeed.
Random bits glued together.
And the last index card collage that I have photographed so far, June 15:
If you want to, please let me know if you have a favorite among these index cards, and why? I’d love to know what you think, thank you.
Wishing you a great day, and lots of artsy time in July!

I love the index card with the jar and heart on it with polka dots in the background. Who doesn’t like jars, hearts and polka dots, right?
Thanks for sharing your creations with us, Hanna! My favorite is Jun 14 (which happens to be my birthday), for the same reasons Rita mentioned – jars, hearts, polka dots, and happy colors! My second favorite is #12 (rainy day owl) – the black, white, and teal colors are so pretty together!
I like the 2nd card best, and also nr 14. Because of flowers, hearts, pink, happy colors, I feel happy just looking at them :) en fråga på svenska också, vart kan man hitta indexcards i Sverige?
