Every 8th of March it’s International Women’s Day. It’s one of my favorite days, because it reminds me how far we’ve come – and that we still have a long way to go…

To commemorate this important day, all collages in this batch feature women writers from Sweden. I hope you have a super lovely day by treating yourself to some “me time”. Read a great book. Take a bubble bath. Or why not give yourself the gift of time to do something creative?

Wishing you a wonderful International Women's Day by Hanna Andersson aka iHanna #womensday #collage #8mars

I love reading and writing, as you might know, so to pick female authors from last century, was not hard. Also, at University I studied literature and came to know a few of these Swedish authors. My favorite is Selma Lagerlöf. This lovely one:

Read her

Selma is the author of many great books, my favorite is The Emperor of Portugallia, which you should pick up today if you haven’t read it yet. It’s beautiful, sad and very gripping. A must-read. If you want to learn more about Sweden along with your kids, you should read Selma’s The Wonderful Adventures of Nils. :-)

Now here are some more authors, and in case anyone want to guess who they are I’m leaving their names out:

Then I run out of images that I thought fitting for this series, so the last one is a celebration of all the anonymous women acting in the world at this time (and still), not daring to reveal who they are. Or maybe trusting that their books would sell better (or at all) with a male pseudonym!
