I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.

Smilla on Christmas Eve, photo eye candy by iHanna in Sweden, visit www.ihanna.nu

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, like the one we had in 2012 when these photos were taken… But alas, it’s raining here in Sweden, and it doesn’t feel very Decembery at all yet. So I thought I’d share some eye candy photos from that Christmas Eve and my Red Christmas Chair…

At my parents house.

Smilla the Cat was waiting on a kitchen chair by the Christmas tree, for the presents to be opened. As a family member she is included in the festivities, but she gets bored easily and fell a sleep after the first present was opened!

It took as a while to open everything, because we try to make it last…

I love how we let the papers fill the floor, and how it feels like a beautiful Wild Christmas Party, with all the wrapping and boxes spread around, gifts and candy and smiles all around…

It reminds me a lot of my childhood, when this was the best day of the year…

Smilla was sleeping through the commotion of Christmas Eve, but as soon as I got the chair, she changed seat and claimed it as her own. Have you ever seen anything more adorable than this?

It just proves that all a home needs to feel like a real, cozy home, is a cat. And maybe a red chair, with pink roses. It makes me happy! Plus it has a foot stool too, so it’s perfect for reading and having coffee in.

I also got Holly Becker’s book Decorate, though probably I would’ve liked her Decorate Workshop better, as I think it has rooms that are more my style (more quirky and colorful I guess). Anyway.

This chair is still a favorite, it’s upholstered but not an arm chair because it doesn’t have arm rests… It is iHanna sized too, but if someone tall like my brother, sits in it, it looks like a miniature of a chair. Kind of perfect for a small apartment like mine too. That’s the story of the chair. It could be called the Red Christmas Chair, but I have it out all year. In the summer it feels very much like a… Summer Chair!
