This is my Personalized DIY Calendar.
A calendar, like your life, is a constant work in progress. It will never be “finished” since there will “always” be new days next week and more things to do, list to write, plans to come up with – and goals to achieve. And that is a good thing! A Personalized DIY Calendar binder has the potential of being the real Life Book, Brain Dump and Planner Companion through the year(s)!
I’ve added in a couple of fun things in my calendar this year, and I’m sure I will keep adding to it. I added some inspirations in there too, like this quote I printed:
I just really like this note from the universe. I got it last year and made it into a framed poster image at the site Recite this. The framed quote really inspired me, so I am going to frame it for real and hang it on my wall one of these days. But until then I’m keeping it in my DIY Calendar as an inspiration page! Love using highlighter pens! And reinforcing the edge of some of the pages with neon tape. Mmm!
I love my Personalized DIY Calendar
I’m taking the class One little word like I mentioned when writing about my word of the year (willpower). I put one of the printable pages into my calendar as a reminder, and I am looking forward to get the prompt for February soon.
At the paper store Ordning & reda I found this small plastic sleeves:
I always end up writing words and putting down ideas on small bits of paper, and now I can just tuck them in the plastic sleeve so I know where they are! Also good for saving receipts, ephemera, address labels and stamps.
Not everything is pink. I love green too.
Isn’t this bird cute? I love each one of the index tabbed pages that I made for this Calendar, and the transparent divider is a favorite too.
And then of course, it all starts with the actual weekly calendar pages, with the daily word prompts, top quote and general awesome rounded corners, printed on that cream paper I talked about. Yum!
I’m using the back of each weekly page as a up to date To do-list! And of course a great place for taking notes, writing down quotes and doing doodles. I got a couple of questions about print my calendar design double sided, but that’s not an option right now because I didn’t design them that way. I don’t think it’s a waste of paper, because it’s great to have the weekly to do-list close to your calendar’s weekly overview! I love it and use it all the time!
I put reminders on my phone and into google calendar all the time, but I don’t have a problem with having both the analog and the digital version of a calendar. I use these tools all the time but in different ways. And as much as I appreciate getting a beep reminder when it’s time to do laundry, I love handwriting lists, checking items of the list, scribbling on post it-notes and the quick flip of the hand to open the calendar on the exact right page I need – right now.
How about you? What’s your favorite way to personalize your calendar? And do you combine digital and paper too, or use just one of those?
Love this! It is really nice to have a written calendar whether or not you have a complimentary digital calendar. (By the way–I’ve also found smallish plastic sleeves for binders at Staples once, though I can’t be sure they still sell them!)
I LOVE notes from the universe! And I love that you put one that really spoke to you right in the front of your planner…great idea.
I love the look of your calendar, I am using a moleskine weekly planner and I use found words in magazines , I will write words, I will doodle drawings, I will make a small collage , I love to make it my own. I don’t comment very often, but I happen to love your blog, it’s so well organized, and the color, and the content is amazing.

Uncle Winston actually has lots of great quotes, though some of them are a bit of an acquired taste. Another I like is “All the great things are simple and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honour, duty, mercy, hope.” I’m not sure if things fitting that description are necessarily simple, but they often are expressed in one word: love, passion, compassion, integrity.

Your planner looks so appealing! I am a paper planner all the way. Even though I have an iPhone, I never use any of its calendar functions. Just this year for the first time, I decided to “dress up” my planner with decorative tapes and stickers. It makes it even more appealing to consult my To Do list through the day. I have a whole Pinterest board for daily/weekly planners, and have really enjoyed collecting images of the beautiful planners out there. It’s amazing and wonderful how many people are paying attention to beautifying their planners!
