Ruby Red Spread

Isn’t red a beauuuuutiful colour?
And the different names are so beautiful and magic, like Carmine, cherry, crimson, ruby red, cadmium, quinacridone, blood red, maroon, cardinal red, scarlet, magenta… It is the colour of our heart and the blood it pumps out every second, and the symbol of strong emotions like passionated love… Mmm!

One of my favorite Art Journaler is Paula Bogdan who shares her rich and colourful pages (almost always full of her yummy handwriting) both on flickr and at her blog with the beautiful name Little Scraps of Magic. I ♥ that blog name! She is playing with Ruby Red Light in her journal as well as some Serendiptious Red, and ended her post with:

Go ahead… play with red. I dare ya!

It’s a dare?! I’m in, yeah baby. See my ruby red page above. I am in love with my art journal. I sit and paint and glue for hours, and then when one spread is finished I just want to continue. The word disipears and I don’t see why I should stop to sleep, eat or make money? I’m sorry friends, family and rest of the world, I know you need me to do other things too, like laundry and put new collages and more zines in the shop – but I’m busy with my Art Journal this week/month/year…

I did try most of my red paints on this one page, and I really enjoyed it. I will do more spreads with a single colour (monochrome) and all its shades, testing the paints against each other.

Want to join in?
Make a page in any one colour and join in, play with it… Why not play with red? Go ahead! I dare you!
