The Accordion Beret that shrunk big time

I knitted this cap, a felted knitted thingie, with leftover yarn from the Poetry Cardigan. I got the pattern from Elena and I think it’s called Accordion Beret (Dragspelsbasker in Swedish).

I knitted this cap a few months ago but I thought that it would be one of those few (very few) projects that I wouldn’t blog about. The cap came out huge and I didn’t understand what I’d done wrong. Not swatching I guess, but hey, that big? It was about twice my head and more!? But then I put it in the washing machine and now it’s perfect. Who would’ve guessed, because the pattern said nothing about that…

What do you think? I love it, and it goes great with the little pink felted flower I made too:

My arms are a bit too short to take overview picture of my self, but I can do it if I have to! hehe.

  1. Hannah, that beret is so cute! I think we like the same color combinations. Glad you decided to blog about it, otherwise we wouldn’t see it

  2. I wonder if left large it would have been good for someone with dreadlocks? My Grandson wears his hair that way and I am sure now the hat I knit him will be too small. Hoping he can stretch it over all that hair… Love how you photographed this so well from all angles yourself! Looks great felted.

  3. So sweet, I love it! Felting things is always a bit hit and miss, so you’ve done a brilliant job! :)

  4. S? bra den blev, f?r den s?g ju verkligen galen p? tidigare! Fina nya brillor ocks? ser jag! Snygga!

  5. Gorgeous hat Hanna. I love that pink and green combination. When I worked as a midwife I used to dress the babies in special care in pink or green babygrows with pink or green cardigans to match. The pink felted flower really sets it off. I am glad you were able to reduce the size.

By the way I still haven’t had you snail mail address to send you the blog giveaway cards.

  6. The flower totally makes it. Will you post a link or the pattern?

  7. Thanks for lovely comments!

Cathy, I’m getting to my email sooN! I hope…

Samantha, I won’t be posting the pattern, it is in Swedish and it is not my own. Sorry about that. Anyone interested in knitting it should visit Garnh?rvan and buy the pattern for dragspelsbasker from them!

  8. Hanna, I love the colors of the beret and the flower is a winner on it. The scarf is in such yummy colors, too, all of your colors are so happy. It brightens my day to visit your blog! I’m so glad that you shared the hat, we would have missed out.

  9. den där baskern är så himla fin! mormor stickade en till mig förra året, och det är definitivt mössfavoriten i år med. så mångsidig, mysig varm och icke frisyrförtörande :) jättefina färger du gjorde din i, och kul och oväntat att filta den…
