Buy a good Art Journal

There are a lot of notebooks with pretty covers on the market, but most of them are for school work and writing – not for art making. Get a book that is made for collage, mixed media, watercolor and paint, that can take glue, acrylic paint and that can expand without breaking – that’s my recommendation.
